- 1 package phyllo dough
- 1 cup melted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Thaw the phyllo dough according to package instructions.
- In a bowl, mix melted butter, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract.
- Layer the phyllo dough in a baking dish, brushing each layer with the butter mixture.
- Sprinkle chopped nuts in between layers if desired.
- Continue layering until all dough is used.
- Drizzle the remaining butter mixture on top.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool, then dust with powdered sugar and serve.
Notes
- Make sure to keep the phyllo dough covered with a damp cloth while working to prevent it from drying out.
- This cake can be made ahead of time and served later.
