Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons matcha powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm milk
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, pureed
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit until bubbly.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour, matcha powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add yeast mixture, warm water, and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  6. Punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle.
  7. Spread the strawberry puree over the dough.
  8. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla, then spread over the strawberry layer.
  9. Roll the dough tightly and slice into rolls.
  10. Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  11. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden.
  12. Let cool and serve.

  • These rolls can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Adding extra strawberries on top makes for a beautiful presentation.
