Ingredients

  • 12 large pasta shells
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the pasta shells according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, spinach, Parmesan, mozzarella, egg, salt, and pepper.
  4. Stuff each shell with the ricotta mixture.
  5. Spread 1 cup of tomato sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  6. Arrange the stuffed shells in the dish and top with remaining tomato sauce.
  7. Sprinkle with fresh basil and additional mozzarella if desired.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until heated through and cheese is bubbly.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add garlic or Italian herbs to the filling.
  • Use fresh mozzarella for a creamier texture.
