- 2 slices bread
- 2 ounces smoked gouda cheese
- 1/4 apple, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread.
- Place one slice of bread, butter side down, in the skillet.
- Layer smoked gouda cheese and apple slices on top.
- Drizzle with honey if using.
- Top with the second slice of bread, butter side up.
- Cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes, then flip and cook the other side.
- Remove from skillet, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
- For additional flavor, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon with the apples.
- Pair with a side of tomato soup for a classic combination.
