Homemade Polish Potato and Cheese Dumplings, known as Pierogi, are a classic dish filled with creamy cheese and mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup farmer’s cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together mashed potatoes, farmer’s cheese, and egg.
  2. In another bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Gradually add the flour mixture to the potato mixture until a dough forms.
  4. Roll out the dough and cut into circles.
  5. Place a spoonful of filling in the center and fold over, sealing the edges.
  6. Boil dumplings in salted water until they float.
  7. In a skillet, sauté onions in butter until golden brown. Serve dumplings topped with sautéed onions.

  • Ensure the potatoes are well mashed to avoid lumps in the filling.
