- 2 cups basmati rice
- 4 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon saffron threads
Instructions
- Rinse the basmati rice until the water runs clear.
- Soak the rice in water for at least 2 hours, then drain.
- In a pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil and add the soaked rice and salt.
- Cook the rice for about 10 minutes until slightly undercooked, then drain it.
- In a non-stick skillet, heat the vegetable oil and add the saffron mixed with a bit of water.
- Add the rice in an even layer and form a cake.
- Cook on medium heat for 30-40 minutes until the bottom is crispy and golden brown.
- Invert the rice cake onto a plate and serve hot.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add spices like turmeric or cumin to the rice while boiling.
- Make sure the oil is hot enough before adding the rice to achieve the perfect crispiness.
