Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet instant yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cardamom, salt, and yeast.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine warm milk, orange juice, melted butter, eggs, and orange zest.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and knead until smooth.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and shape it into buns.
  6. Place buns on a baking sheet and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 20-25 minutes.
  8. Mix powdered sugar and orange juice to create a glaze and drizzle over cooled buns.
