- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar

- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
Instructions
- Warm the milk and butter in a saucepan until the butter melts. Let it cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together sugar and yeast. Add the warm milk mixture, egg, and vanilla. Mix well.
- Gradually add flour, cardamom, salt, orange zest, and orange juice. Knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Roll out the dough, cut into shapes, and place on a baking sheet.
- Let rise again for about 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Let cool.
- Mix powdered sugar with a little orange juice to create a glaze and drizzle over the buns.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, consider adding more cardamom or a hint of nutmeg.
- These buns are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
