Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk and butter in a saucepan until the butter melts. Let it cool slightly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together sugar and yeast. Add the warm milk mixture, egg, and vanilla. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour, cardamom, salt, orange zest, and orange juice. Knead until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough, cut into shapes, and place on a baking sheet.
  6. Let rise again for about 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Let cool.
  8. Mix powdered sugar with a little orange juice to create a glaze and drizzle over the buns.
