- 1 package Knafeh (thin pastry)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon rose water
- 1 tablespoon orange blossom water
- 1/4 cup crushed pistachios for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix the Knafeh pastry with melted butter until well coated.
- Spread half of the pastry mixture in a greased baking dish, pressing firmly to create an even layer.
- In another bowl, combine the ricotta and mozzarella cheeses and spread this mixture over the pastry layer.
- Top with the remaining pastry mixture and press down.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the Knafeh is baking, prepare the syrup by boiling sugar and water together for 10 minutes. Add rose water and orange blossom water.
- Once the Knafeh is done baking, pour the hot syrup evenly over the top.
- Let it cool slightly before serving, and garnish with crushed pistachios.
Notes
- Can be served warm or at room temperature.
- For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cinnamon to the cheese mixture.
