Ingredients

  • 300 grams all-purpose flour
  • 250 grams unsalted butter
  • 200 milliliters water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 liter milk
  • 150 grams sugar
  • 100 grams cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 200 grams whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a saucepan, combine butter, water, and salt; bring to a boil.
  3. Remove from heat, add flour all at once, and stir until it forms a ball.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Spread half of the dough onto a lined baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes, then repeat with the remaining dough.
  7. For the filling, combine milk, sugar, and cornstarch in a pot; cook until thickened.
  8. Add vanilla extract and cool.
  9. Once both pastry layers are cool, spread the cream filling on one layer.
  10. Top with the second pastry layer and frost with whipped cream.
  11. Chill in the refrigerator before serving.
