- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1.5 cups warm water
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Gradually add warm water and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Cover and let the dough rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Divide the dough into equal portions and shape into rings.
- Soak each ring in a mixture of water and molasses, then coat with sesame seeds.
- Place on a baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 450°F for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cumin to the dough.
- Simit is best eaten fresh but can be stored for a few days in a bread bag.
