- 4 hot cross buns
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
Instructions
- Slice the hot cross buns in half and dip each half in the coffee.
- In a bowl, whisk together mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until smooth.
- Layer half of the soaked hot cross buns in a dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the buns.
- Add another layer of the soaked buns and top with the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- Sift cocoa powder over the top layer.
- Chill for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use espresso instead of brewed coffee.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings or whipped cream if desired.
