A spooky and delicious Halloween treat featuring baked Brie cheese covered in cranberry sauce, perfect for entertaining guests.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces of Brie cheese
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup cranberry sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 sheet of thawed puff pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Assorted crackers or toasted bread for serving

Instructions

  1. Start by heating your oven to 400°F.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, gently roll out the puff pastry until it’s smooth and slightly larger.
  3. Center the Brie cheese on the pastry, creating a cozy nest for it.
  4. Pour the maple syrup over the cheese, followed by a generous layer of cranberry sauce.
  5. Scatter the chopped thyme over the top and season with a pinch of salt and pepper for added flavor.
  6. Carefully fold the pastry around the Brie, ensuring it’s fully encased. Trim any excess pastry to maintain a neat appearance.
  7. Transfer the wrapped Brie to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush the top with the beaten egg to achieve a beautiful golden finish.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  9. Allow it to cool for about 5 minutes after removing from the oven, as the cheese will be molten inside.

Notes

  • For an eerie effect, mix in a few drops of red food coloring into the cranberry sauce before layering it on the Brie.
  • For a savory twist, consider adding sautéed spinach or roasted garlic inside the pastry with the cheese.
