Egyptian Lentils, Rice, and Pasta Mix

A traditional Egyptian dish combining lentils, rice, and pasta for a hearty meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup lentils
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 cup small pasta
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 4 cups water

Instructions

  1. Rinse the lentils and rice separately.
  2. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the onion until translucent.
  3. Add the lentils, cumin, and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. Add the rice and small pasta to the pot. Stir well.
  5. Cover and cook on low heat for another 20-25 minutes, or until the rice and pasta are cooked through and the water is absorbed.
  6. Season with salt and pepper. Fluff with a fork and serve hot.

Notes

  • This dish can be served with a side of salad for a complete meal.
