A soft and fluffy Ube milk bread made using the tangzhong method, perfect for breakfast or snacks.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup ube puree
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup tangzhong (cooked flour and water mixture)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water and flour to make tangzhong, cook until thickened.
  2. Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Add milk, egg, ube puree, and tangzhong to the dry ingredients, mix until combined.
  4. Knead the dough until smooth, then let it rise until doubled in size.
  5. Shape the dough into a loaf and place in a greased loaf pan.
  6. Allow to rise again until it has risen above the pan.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 30-35 minutes.
  8. Cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Store bread in an airtight container for up to three days.
  • For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of ube powder on top before baking.
