- 3/4 cup unsweetened molasses
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup icing for decoration
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, salt, and baking soda.
- In another bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the molasses, egg, and vanilla to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the flour mixture until well combined.
- Cover dough and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll out the chilled dough to about 1/4-inch thickness and cut into shapes.
- Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly browned.
- Let cool and decorate with icing.
