Deliciously soft and fluffy brioches filled with a rich vanilla custard and chocolate chips.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup vanilla custard

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, eggs, softened butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out. Cut out rounds and fill each with a spoonful of vanilla custard and chocolate chips.
  7. Shape the rounds into brioche forms and place them in a greased baking dish.
  8. Let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh yeast.
  • You can substitute dark chocolate chips if preferred.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
