- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup milk, warmed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup vanilla custard
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, eggs, softened butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out. Cut out rounds and fill each with a spoonful of vanilla custard and chocolate chips.
- Shape the rounds into brioche forms and place them in a greased baking dish.
- Let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool before serving.
Notes
- For best results, use fresh yeast.
- You can substitute dark chocolate chips if preferred.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
