Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and cocoa powder.
  3. In another bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg yolk and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix until a dough forms.
  6. Press the dough into a tart pan and bake for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Meanwhile, heat heavy cream in a saucepan until just boiling.
  8. Remove from heat and pour over chopped chocolate, letting it sit for a few minutes.
  9. Add vanilla extract and stir until smooth.
  10. Pour the chocolate filling into the baked tart shell and let cool at room temperature.
  11. Refrigerate until set, then serve.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet.
  • Serve with whipped cream or fresh berries for an extra touch.
